Of course women are crazy, why wouldn’t they be?

There’s this article I read on the New York Times website a while back, “An Elephant Crackup?”. It was about how elephants in Africa had gone rogue and were raping and killing Rhinos and tearing through villages, terrorising the villagers and in some cases killing them. As you may or may not know, elephants are one of nature’s most timid animals. They’re social creatures that show love and affection for each other. Even when the alphas are fighting for dominance, they inflict very little injury. They are considered to be very intelligent creatures and have attributes associated with grief, compassion, altruism and self awareness. So why did the elephants start behaving so abnormally? Environmental psychologists believe that it’s because of years of persistent trauma from land development destroying their natural habitat and poachers shooting at their herds. All these things and more that have been happening in the past several decades are driving the elephants completely insane. The idiom “memory like an elephant” is no joke. Elephants remember every single thing humans have done to them and now they’re responding with violence. They’ve gone crazy.

Women have had to suffer through so many injustices over time. Women have been treated like second classes citizens. They’ve been forced to marry men they wouldn’t even look at twice. For a long time women were raised to believe that their place in society was at home, in the kitchen looking after the children and tending to their husbands.

The porn industry is the only industry in the world where women earn more than men. Go figure! An industry widely driven by the desires of men, where women have to sometimes suffer through the most heinous sex acts you can ever imagine.

Only 1% of the land on earth is owned by women. It’s almost like women arrived on earth just the other day and all the land was gone and only 1% was available for purchase. But no…they’ve been here this all whole time.

In some part of the world (today) women can get detained for saying no to a marriage proposal. Women in the past weren’t allowed to vote, or file a petition for divorce.

Women in Saudi Arabia aren’t allowed to drive. A woman was sentenced to ten lashes for getting caught driving. The worst on this that I’ve heard is that if women are allowed to drive there will be no more virgins and people will turn gay, here’s the link, it sounds like I’m making it up.

In South Africa women account for most new HIV infections, because of their husband’s infidelity. South Africa has the highest incidents of rape in the world. Then there’s “corrective rape”, when lesbian women are raped to be converted into “proper girls”.

Then you have religion. Okay, I don’t know much about religion so I might not have a cogent argument for this one. But I’ll leave you with an excerpt from one of Jimmy Carter’s speeches at the end of this post.

I could go on and on about how women are mistreated. @PearlBosh always asks this question on twitter “Why does society hate women”. For more on female injustices current and present, hit her up on twitter.

Women are the most empathetic of God’s creatures. They carry with them the sorrows and joys, disappointments and victories, of all worthwhile women they’ve encountered, be it in person, in a article, a novel, a documentary, a movie or any other forms of media. If you’re fortunate enough to have watched “The Stonning of Soraya” and have gotten the chance to discuss it with a woman, you’ll understand what I mean. An injustice to one woman is an injustice to all women and this isn’t limited to time.

Now that women in modern society have overcome some of the injustices of the past, they now expected to have it all. From feminists, they’re expected to be leaders in society, ministers, CEOs, academics etc. From their families, they’re expected to be wives, mothers, and “God fearing women”. From the misogynists on twitterverse and other dark corners of society they’re expected to be hot, sexy and/or beautiful. Then you have Simphiwe Dana who doesn’t want African women to get weaves.

Women are being pulled in so many different directions and men, yes MEN have shown them flame after flame over the years. And in trying to be the sensitive, compassionate and loving creatures that they are, why should they hold their shit together when people men (and in some instant other women who just gave up on being real women) aren’t paying them an ounce of consideration? Of course they’ll lose their shit! Of course they’ll act crazy!

If you feel like I’ve lost the plot, go back up and read up on the elephants. It is essentially exactly the same.

Excerpt from a speech by Jimmy Carter:

It is ironic that women are now welcomed into all major professions and other positions of authority, but are branded as inferior and deprived of the equal right to serve God in positions of religious leadership. The plight of abused women is made more acceptable by the mandated subservience of women by religious leaders.

The truth is that male religious leaders have had – and still have – an option to interpret holy teachings either to exalt or subjugate women. They have, for their own selfish ends, overwhelmingly chosen the latter. Their continuing choice provides the foundation or justification for much of the pervasive persecution and abuse of women throughout the world. This is in clear violation not just of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights but also the teachings of Jesus Christ, the Apostle Paul, Moses and the prophets, Muhammad, and founders of other great religions – all of whom have called for proper and equitable treatment of all the children of God. It is time we had the courage to challenge these views and set a new course that demands equal rights for women and men, girls and boys.

At their most repugnant, the belief that women are inferior human beings in the eyes of God gives excuses to the brutal husband who beats his wife, the soldier who rapes a woman, the employer who has a lower pay scale for women employees, or parents who decide to abort a female embryo. It also costs many millions of girls and women control over their own bodies and lives, and continues to deny them fair and equal access to education, health care, employment, and influence within their own communities.

I'm random and unwise. I'm always seeking wisdom in its simplest form. I'm scared of not being scared, so I find ways to terrify myself. I care about everything, and I'm interested in all things. I reserve the right to change my mind, anytime. So in most cases I find it best to humble my opinion
